Based on Maggie O’Farrell’s award-winning book, the story of Hamnet follows multiple characters building the world of 16th century England while setting the scene for the story that was inspired by one of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies. The film has received a lot of Oscar buzz and has been nominated for six Golden Globes. Vanity Fair says that Jessie Buckley’s performance as Agnes, the wife to William Shakespeare, is breathtaking and one of the best performances of the year.
Housemaid
This cult-classic-in-the-making is based off of the Book Tok sensation of the same title by Freida McFadden. The story follows Millie, an ex-con who is hired as the Winchester family’s new caretaker and nanny. Millie is forced to stay in the attic of this lovely house, secrets unravel from there and the truth comes out in this nail-biting thriller mystery.

Frankenstein – Netflix
The newest remake of Mary Shelley’s classic novel features Jacob Elordi as the creature. If you are looking for an accurate depiction of the book, you will not necessarily find it in this movie. However, it is worth the watch for the dramatic, seat-gripping adventure story that is Frankenstein. Making you question how far science should be taken and which character is truly in the wrong?
Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery – Netflix
The newest addition to the Knives Out series is a baffling murder mystery that takes place within the confines of a closed off church community. A star-studded cast makes up the suspect list, and James Bond himself Daniel Craig is back to play the iconic detective Benoit Blanc. This movie is sure to keep any person glued to their seats trying to piece together this puzzle of a mystery.

A movie filled with an unlikely heartwarming friendship that blossoms over the course of Christmas break at a Massachusetts prep school. The movie features the perfect winter aesthetic and a classic movie feel. This movie has become a Christmas break staple despite the director’s wishes.

Great movie suggestions! I can’t wait to see Hamnet and the new Knives Out – and Clue is such a nostalgic take – I think I am ready for a re-watch.
