Have the winter blues got you rolling up to school in your PJs? While comfort is key during these chilly months, there’s nothing like the confidence of fashion to combat the seasonal funk. Here’s my guide for student style during the snowy weather!
Sweater Weather
The comfort of a sweatshirt and the style of a scholar? Count me in. The versatility of a sweater can be dressed up or down for any occasion while keeping in warmth. I’d like to personally thank Miss Rory Gilmore for the iconic cable knit sweater moment which is a trendy staple in many closets. We love a good sweater that blurs the line between clothing and a quilt. But don’t get it twisted, sweaters aren’t just for our coffee-obsessed librarian chicks. Gender neutral and flattering on everybody, there are thousands of styles for all aesthetics. Hollister, American Eagle, and J.Crew make fabulous sweaters this time of year. For a look that won’t burn your wallet, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Burlington have a wide selection and plenty of good deals.

Layers of Love
Embrace y2k style this season with layering pieces. A timeless trick for practical styling, add long sleeves and camis under tops, crewnecks over tees, collars under sweaters. Perfect for battling temperature fluctuation in the classroom.
Casual and Conscious
It can be tough to find quality clothing that provides warmth and protection. As teenagers, I know, money is tight. Fast fashion companies may offer the lowest prices, but also the poorest quality. Most clothing of today is made of synthetic materials that leave a plethora of side effects, except functionally. Try thrifting! There’s nothing cooler than a hand-me-down. All of my favorite pieces are either passed down, purchased at consignment shops, or thrifted. Pre-loved clothing was loved for good reason, and as it gets chilly, thrift stores are stocked with unique jackets, sweaters, cardigans and more.
