Somerville High School senior Jenna Schworn is the kind of student whose presence is wanted at every game, activity, and in every classroom. Whether she’s organizing with the senior class officers, rallying the crowd at football games, or taking charge on the lacrosse field, Jenna brings a contagious energy that’s unmistakably hers.
“I just love being part of things,” she says, and she has the experience to prove it.
Jenna is an active member of Key Club, Genesis Club, and Yearbook Club. She has been elected as, and served as both junior and now senior class officer—roles that she says have helped her grow into a better leader. Though her various titles are impressive, Jenna is in it for the positive impact she makes on the community around her.
Outside the classroom, Jenna can be found on the field. She has played soccer and lacrosse since kindergarten. This year she made her debut on the varsity soccer team. She’s been part of the program all four years, so moving up the ranks meant a lot to her. Soccer has been a passion throughout high school, but it’s lacrosse that holds a special place in her heart. “I’ve been on varsity lacrosse since sophomore year, and it’s definitely my favorite out of the two. I can’t wait for the season to start.”
Ironically, when asked what her favorite SHS activity is, the answer didn’t involve a ball or a club. “Battle of the Classes, for sure,” she says. “You get to be with your entire grade and just have fun!” Over the past four years, Jenna’s been easy to spot at Battle of the Classes, always standing in the front row, decked out in her grade’s assigned color.
If there’s one thing Jenna will never run out of, it’s school spirit. She serves as a pack leader for the Somerville High School Pioneer Pack, Somerville’s student cheering section. That energy transfers to the field, and it’s just so fun to be a part of it. I’m sad it’s ending soon.” She has made this football season an unforgettable one.
Despite her frequent attendance at all things Ville, she is a dedicated student. Jenna is a recently inducted member of the National Honor Society, which she has been working towards since her freshman year. “It took a lot of work in school to maintain a 4.0 GPA, and a lot of dedication out of school to become a leader and gain community service,” she says. “Being in the NHS is a reminder that I can accomplish anything.”
Somerville is a huge part of who she is and who she hopes to become, but it’s not everything. Outside the walls of SHS, Jenna works two jobs, and on the rare weekend she’s not working, you’ll find her goofing off with her friends. “Whether it’s just driving around or sitting on the couch, I love to be in their presence,” she says.

Looking ahead, Jenna plans to attend a four-year college. Having three older sisters, college is something she is familiar with. She was inspired by the positive experiences her sisters had and says, “All of my sisters went to college and loved everything about it. I want to feel that same way.”
Reflecting on her high school career, Jenna credits the school with helping her become the person that she is today. “I think Somerville has made me a more mature person,” she says. “Being around seniors as a freshman really influenced me.”
Her final year at SHS is just beginning, and Jenna has so much more to offer. But she leaves with one very important fun fact: “if I had to eat one thing for the rest of my life, it’d be ice cream.”
