Starting a new year means Somerville High School’s very own Genesis Club is bringing back hope and joy for others. A club devoted to spreading love through acts of community service while also exemplifying one’s connection with God has had many successful events this school year. In December, Genesis Club partnered with the Forming Lives organization in Colombia and sent 99 Good Samaritan Boxes to kids containing personal care items, toys, activities, and a handwritten note to make their holiday season even brighter. Additionally, the club partnered with the Meghan Rose Bradley Foundation to make soft and colorful blankets for cancer patients. Most recently, club members visited the Birchwood nursing home to spread holiday cheer with gifts, songs, cards, and a fun Christmas activity.
As Genesis Club gears up for its next service project, visiting the homeless in Newark, they ask for winter clothing items such as hats, gloves, snow boots, jackets, socks, and more. On top of that, they ask for toiletries including, wipes, hair brushes, and feminine products. All items are due by January 30th and can be dropped off at room 305. Genesis Clubs’ consistent involvement in community service activities highlights the true positive impact they are creating within the community. We can’t wait to see all their accomplishments throughout the rest of the year!
