Miles Mitchell wins the 2024 Timothée Chalamet look-alike contest
January
“It’s murder on the dancefloor, but you better not kill the groove.” The radical and risky Saltburn certainly did not. This January, Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi filled our screens for all of the wrong reasons, starting the 2024 season with a bang (and a grave)!
February
The Grammys, the Super Bowl, and a record-breaking women’s basketball game. At the start of the month, the 66th annual Grammy Awards took place in LA, with artists like Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus, and Taylor Swift all taking home awards. Swift also made an appearance at the LVII Super Bowl, outraging coach dads when she went to cheer on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, who took the trophy home with the Chiefs. Caitlin Clark broke the NCAA record for most points scored in a basketball game, making it a good month for both Taylor Swift and sports.
March
Oppenheimer and Barbie had a showdown at the Oscars. The public was disappointed with Oppenheimer taking the cake during the award show season, beating out Barbie in almost every category but Best Original Song. Speaking of original songs, Beyonce released a completely new-style album entitled Cowboy Carter. Straying from her norm and returning to her Texan roots in the country world.
April
“Did I leave my typewriter at your apartment?” Taylor Swift released her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, and shocked fans with an additional 15 songs. Not only did that release shake up the world, but an earthquake also hit the northeast, and New Yorkers got a tiny taste of what life is like on the West Coast.
May
Billie Eilish released her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, and Kendrick and Drake hit each other with their words in a rap battle. Lamar would come out on top with his song “Not Like Us,” which spent 21 weeks at number one on the rap charts.
June
“H-O-T-T-O-G-O!” Chappell Roan made her first festival splash, dressing up at the Statue of Liberty at the Governor’s Ball in New York City. Harry Potter, a.k.a. Daniel Radcliffe, took home a Tony Award for his role in Merrily We Roll Along. June may have also ruined the tour with a meme of Justin Timberlake, whose mugshot spread around after he was arrested for a DWI.

July
Olympic Villa—I mean Village. In July, the Olympics and Love Island filled everyone’s screens. Whether you were rooting for Leah or the USA, both entertained us. Team USA did not disappoint, taking home golds in swimming, gymnastics, track, and rugby. The USA did not just leave with medals, but they also left with internet legends in Ilona Maher and Stephen Nedoroscik, not to mention the other Olympic icons, including Raygun and Turkish Guy.
August
Charli XCX wrote the summer manifesto with Brat Summer about club lifestyle and culture. Her album was complete with song remixes that featured your favorite artists, and an “Apple” dance that spread across the internet and even had celebrities giving the dance a shot.
September
In September we were very mindful and very demure with the start of the new school year. The MTV Video Music Awards took place on September 11th, where the world saw Sabrina Carpenter make out with an alien on stage during a performance of her hit song “Taste,” and Chappell Roan make her voice heard by a rude photographer.

October
Who knew that so many people looked like Timothée Chalamet? Well, this October, the world certainly found out. The first look-alike contest of the year took place in Washington Square Park, and the real guy showed up. Fans were shocked when a fifty-dollar contest turned into a meet and greet with Timothée Chalamet.
November
The American public spoke of electing Donald Trump as president, and everyone “held space” for the lyrics of Wicked’s “Defying Gravity.” It was a month full of pink, green, and Gladiator II. Box offices tried to recreate Barbenheimer with the less influential version: 2024’s “Glicked.”
December
CEO-killer-turned-internet-fixation Luigi Mangione began stealing the hearts of the people on TikTok. People around the world celebrated a “Nonsense” Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter, kicking off the holiday season with some spicy lyrics. Beyoncé gifted Netflix a Christmas football game halftime show.
