Ryan Hayden is a standout senior at Somerville High School. As a dedicated varsity lacrosse player, a peer leader and an active member of the Genesis Club, Ryan embodies what it means to be a well-rounded student.
When asked about his favorite involvement, Ryan did not hesitate to name varsity lacrosse. This sport has played a significant role in his high school experience, fostering his teamwork and discipline skills.
But while he aids his team on and off the field, it’s his role in peer leadership that truly highlights his passion for helping others.
“I enjoy being a leader and want to ensure the freshmen start off their high school experience right and have a good four years,” Ryan said.
He is committed to guiding younger students, which reflects his sense of responsibility and care for the Somerville community.

Coming to a high school that merges students from different towns, Ryan found himself expanding his circle and his comfort zone.
“It made me more social and comfortable reaching out to make new friends,” he shared.
Ryan joined various clubs as a way of helping him grow into a more confident and versatile individual.
Ryan loves the supportive and family-like group he’s been able to establish at SHS. He gives a special shoutout to Mr. Skomba, a teacher and coach who has had nothing but a positive influence on him.
“He cares for his players and students and wants them to succeed,” Ryan said.
Away from the Ville, Ryan enjoys spending his free time playing various sports and going fishing. But even when he is relaxing, he is dedicating himself to his studies. He values academic success and maintaining good grades just as much as his leadership and athletic responsibilities.
Though he does not have a clear path for his future, Ryan plans to attend a four-year college or university to further his education.
Ryan Hayden’s impact on SHS is a testament to the power of helping others, being a leader, and showing what stepping beyond comfort zones can do. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
