Somerville High School has welcomed a new French teacher! Everyone, meet Mrs. Webb!
After a very “insane and exhausting” year teaching French at Basking Ridge Middle School, Mrs. Webb is excited to join the SHS community!
Mrs. Webb has a lot of teaching experience and has spent a total of 10 years teaching in the U.S. She taught middle school for one year, conversational French at Union County College, and then partook in teaching practice in France for about a year. Ultimately, she found that her favorite place to teach is in a high school setting.
Mrs. Webb says she loves being a mentor for her students and impacting them in a positive way.
For Mrs. Webb, it is “completely energizing to watch them at the beginning of the school year only mumble a few words in French, to see them write essays, have conversations with me, and talk about their day in French. It is very rewarding, exhilarating even.”
Mrs. Webb has known that she wanted to be a teacher ever since she was a teenager. She loves sharing her passion for the language with her students. In response to questions about how she learned French and whether she spent time in a French-speaking country, Mrs. Webb said that she completed her teacher training in France about nine years ago, then earned a certificate in teaching French.
When questioned about what drew her to the SHS community, Mrs. Webb expressed how she “loves the close-knit community and very friendly staff.”
She went on to say that she and her husband would come to visit Somerville to explore restaurants around Bridgewater Commons. In the future, she would like to move here!
A fun fact about Mrs. Webb is that she “can’t resist karaoke.” In her free time, she also likes to color and collect all kinds of aromatherapy items, like oils, candles, pens, sprays, diffusers, etc.
The Somerville community is happy to welcome Mrs. Webb!
