There is something extra special about spending a Friday night under the lights. At Somerville High school, the Pioneer Pack is the loudest in the stands. Every game as far as Summit feels like a home field advantage thanks to the pack’s unmatched energy, spirit, and support for their football team. Week after week, the pack continues to show up dressed in theme, faces painted, and ready to knock down the opposing team through their voices.

This year, seniors PJ Baldoni and Jenna Schworn lead the pack, bringing the energy every week. They plan chants, rally the student body, and coordinate dress up themes making sure the atmosphere is unforgettable. “Because we’re all seniors, we want to make the pack as special as it can be,” Jenna said. With football season coming to a close shortly, she adds, “I love the pack, it’s just so much fun, especially basketball season.”

While every school may have a student section the pack’s presence and spirit is unmatched. When asked how the pack influences you as a player, senior football players Ceanan Zlatkov and Dan Tillisch state, “The pack brings the community together and we enjoy running through the tunnel after a win.”
Through coordination with Somerville cheer the new “Do It” chant intensifies the sense of unity already fostered within the student section. Whether it’s creating new chants or using the old, the pack is a long standing Somerville High School tradition that will never lose its title of being the best.
