Meet our new teacher at Somerville High School, Ms. Chiaffarano!
Ms. Chiaffarano teaches grades 9-12 in the Life Skills/Multiple Disabilities class. She works in a self-contained special education classroom, focusing on functional life skills to help students prepare for life outside of the classroom.
Ms. Chiaffarano enjoys making meaningful connections with the students at the high school and their families. She loves being able to see the students progress throughout the year and watching their confidence grow.
A cool fact about Ms. Chiaffarano— she has been working in Somerville since 2014! She first started off working as a 5th grade teacher for 8 years, then moved on to working as a K-2 Language and Learning disabilities teacher for 4 years, and now works at our very own high school as a Life Skills teacher.
When asked about what she was looking forward to in the upcoming year, Ms. Chiaffarano said, “I’m excited to build opportunities for the Life Skills class, such as new jobs around the school and to incorporate different experiences for them on our weekly community trips.”
In her free time Ms. Chiaffarano enjoys going on walks with her dogs, Penny and Kobe, and likes to take them to fun new dog parks. She also enjoys reading, exercising, and spending time with friends and family.
