Join Somerville High School in giving a warm welcome to the newest member of the science department, Ms. Furnari!
After many years at Branchburg Central Middle School, Ms. Furnari brings her advanced knowledge in many fields of science to high school students as a new chemistry teacher. When asked what she loves most about this field of teaching, Furnari expressed that she adores “inspiring curiosity” and “making complex ideas accessible to all students.” She also admires her own ability as a teacher to “build strong connections with students and their families.”
In her free time, Ms. Furnari enjoys spending time with friends or walking at White Oak Park. She also expressed that some of her favorite activities include attending concerts and reading.
Ms. Furnari is not only dedicated to her teaching within the classroom, but she is also committed to cheering on her students as they excel in sports and other activities outside of the classroom. She has attended multiple Somerville High School Football games throughout the year to support the accomplishments of her students. The connection that Furnari is able to make with each student demonstrates her role as both a mentor and role model in the lives of high schoolers.
When questioned about her experience with joining the Somerville High School community, Furnari expressed that she admires how “everyone comes together with a shared passion for growth and opportunity, both academically and personally.” She is drawn to the “supportive, diverse and passionate” nature of her fellow teachers and students.
The welcoming environment and the motivation that students have for their studies are only two of the many aspects that Ms. Furnari admires most about the school. She is excited to continue to teach and inspire in her upcoming years at the Ville!
