Congratulations to Salutatorian Kelan Vitali! This fall, Kelan will be attending Gettysburg College to study biology and pursue his passion for the medical field—possibly as a veterinarian. He already has hands-on experience, working as a veterinary technician at a local clinic, which has further fueled his interest in animal care. Beyond academics and career preparation, Kelan has been a vibrant part of the Somerville High School community. He is an avid tennis player, captain of the tennis team, served as a Peer Leader, and maintained strong connections with both teachers and classmates. Kelan shared, “My high school experience was an extremely lucky one. I had the joy to be surrounded by great friends who encouraged and helped me throughout my four years, as well as great teachers to help shape me into the student I am today.”
Outside of school, Kelan loves to ski with friends in Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania, and even Canada. He also enjoys fishing in Lake George with his father, and playing golf with friends
Kelan’s blend of academic achievement, extracurricular involvement, and genuine appreciation for those around him makes him a standout role model. While he knows that college will bring challenges and require hard work, he offers advice to underclassmen: “Study hard, but take time to enjoy what is around you.” His perspective reminds us that success in high school isn’t just about grades—it’s about balance, friendships, and growth. Kelan is a great example of a well-rounded student who embraced every part of the high school journey, and we wish him the best as he takes on this exciting next chapter. Kelan personally requested that the name “Vitali Vet” get shouted out, as his brother and him hope to open their own Vet practice in 20 years.
