Haley Sasiak has been an active member in Somerville. She has helped out with numerous clubs and made SHS a warm and welcoming environment. See how she does it!
What is your favorite part of SHS?
The amount of school spirit everyone has. I love Battle of the classes cause I can get decked out in the class color. It’s fun because it lets us show spirit and there’s a lot of fun games and activities. It’s just a really fun event. The Pioneer pack is another thing cause it’s a bunch of my friends and stuff just cheering and having fun.

What activities are you involved in?
I’m in Unified Bowling, which I joined my sophomore year and I’ll definitely keep doing it through my senior year. I’m also in peer to peer, genesis club (where she serves as the publicist), and soccer where I’m varsity defense.
What activities are your favorite to participate in?
Soccer and peer to peer. Soccer because some of my best friends play and I’ve played my whole life. I just really love it but I don’t think I’m gonna play in college. Peer to peer was awesome because my brother has autism and that club has helped me better understand the everyday struggles he goes through and how I can support him more. I hope I can keep volunteering with children with disabilities as I get older.
What are your priorities for school?
- Family
- Friends
- Extracurriculars and academics
- Volunteering and social life
What are your plans for the future?
My top choices for colleges are Monmouth University and the University of Delaware. I think I want to study nutrition and food sciences to maybe become a nutritionist, but I’m not really sure yet.
What do you want to bring from SHS to college?
Definitely my respect for others. I learned how to work with people with disabilities through peer to Peer and unified bowling which has helped me a lot both inside and outside of school.
